October 5th, 2018 – Wayne’s football team continues their winning streak by defeating the Beavercreek Beavers in front of a packed house in their homecoming game. The Warriors are now on a three-game winning streak after their 49-17 win against the Beavers. The win elevates Wayne’s record to 5-2 on the season.
“Their defense couldn’t stop the run so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” said quarterback Rashad McKee. “We just have to take advantage of our opportunities when we’re on the field.
The Warrior offense had an outstanding rushing performance with all seven of their touchdowns coming on the ground. A key factor in the performance was the offensive line paving the way for leading rusher Devin Nelson. The junior rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Ja’rod Lankford also put on a great performance with 109 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Wayne’s defense also put on a great show to compliment the offense. Jaden Hurd and Otis Allen lead the Warriors with 12 tackles each. Alex Ealy had the only sack in the game and Jerrell Dixon returned the game’s only interception for 89 yards.
“We tryna go to state baby,” said Dixon of the team’s mentality as the season is winding down.
Before they go to state, the Warriors have to take on the Fairmont Firebirds. Wayne will continue their home stand next week on October 12th at 7:00 pm and you can purchase your tickets here: https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/5433
