LOVE WITHIN ATHLETICS
There are many attributes that we learn from athletics. Maybe right up there with attitude development would be the art of learning to LOVE . Yes, in athletics, if your team is going to be successful, you had better have a team that Love’s one another. This needs to happen in order to build great chemistry, which is essential to having a Championship Team. The two latest examples of that were the Ohio State Buckeyes and the New England Patriots. You don’t make it to that level of Championship play without having great love for one another.
The neatest thing that I have enjoyed in athletics, is that you not only form a Love for one another during that season, you form a fraternity of Love for each other throughout life. The other way that we teach our young people about love is that we never hold back on telling our young people that we do love them. Believe it or not, some of our young people have never been told by a mentor or adult figure that they are loved. Our big thing is we want our athletes to learn how to be great husbands and wives, great fathers and mothers and it is next to impossible to be great in this area without learning to Love and being able to say it.
So our challenge to all Warriors out there, use Valentine’s Day as a kick-off by telling someone how much they mean to you and just how much you do love them. They may feel better, but the person that speaks it will receive the most from it…Happy Valentine’s Day!
