The Piqua Indians tallied single runs in the 2nd, 4th, and 5th innings and The Indians starting pitcher scattered 7 hits in a 3-1 victory over visiting Wayne Thursday evening. The Warriors scored their only run in the 1st inning when Zach Johnson was hit by a pitch, stole second base, and came home on a 2 out double by Seth Strong. Wayne would have opportunities throughout the game, including leadoff doubles by Jake Turner in the 3rd and Johnson in the 6th, but The Warriors were unable to capitalize. Michael Warden started for Wayne, allowing the 3 runs on just 5 hits while walking 6 batters, hitting one, and striking out 7 in his 5 1/3 inning performance. Wayne travels to Vandalia to take on Butler Friday evening before finishing the regular season at home Saturday vs. Miamisburg at noon. That game will be Senior Day at James Harrison Field.
