DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOSS AND LEADER
I wanted to share with everyone some of the items that we will be exposing our athletes to during our leadership and character program beginning this fall. Our goal is to make them Leaders in this world we live in.
Our schools mission statement is: Our Students Today, World Leaders Tomorrow. Athletics plays a huge role in developing leadership. Here is a comparison between what a Boss is vs. what a Leader is. I have been very fortunate and continue to be fortunate to work for some outstanding Leaders. I do believe that everyone should want to be noted as being a Leader.
Here are the comparisons: A Boss drives employees, a Leader coaches them. A Boss depends on authority and a Leader on goodwill. A Boss inspires fear and a Leader generates enthusiasm. A Boss says “I” and a Leader says “we”. A Boss places blame for the breakdown and the Leader fixes the breakdowns. A Boss knows how it is done and a Leader shows how it is done. A Boss uses people while Leader develops people. A Boss takes credit and a Leader gives credit. A Boss commands and a Leader asks. A Boss says “go” and a Leader says “Let’s Go.”
One can see why this is extremely important for our young people to learn. We can call them leaders all we want, but if we educate them to be leaders, then they will be very strong, consistent and durable leaders.
Season Ticket information is coming real soon. Current Season Ticket Holders should receive information in the mail this week. The Every Warrior Plays program is having a Fish Fry this Saturday night at the Huber Heights Athletic Foundation Center. The time is 6:00. Come out have a great time for a great cause. All monies raised for this program helps to reduce the participation fees.
Last, but not least, A very Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Moms out there. As you get more experienced (called getting older) you really learn to appreciate what a back bone of a family really is and that is the Mom. I feel very blessed to have a beautiful Mom that I love dearly and my wish is that all of you can experience that same warmth that only a Mom can give… Have a very special day!
